Microdosing on Presence.

We live in a go big or go home, live large kinda society.

That Times Square, everything on all the time, grind grind grind culture — it’s hard to escape.

And we know being “grounded” is good, even if we don’t really know what it is, or what it means on an experiential level.

So even the ways we ground ourselves — cultivating yin, which is the flip side of yang — are actually, pretty ironically, still very yang in the framework of their nature.

Hour long meditations. Using relaxing melody apps on your phone. Hour long relaxing melody apps on your phone… while you get acupuncture.

You get the drift.

So what I’ve been advocating for lately is more actual yin moments of yin. Small moments of yin.

  • You’re waiting for your kid at pickup and you notice a flower growing out of a crack in the sidewalk.

  • The cool breeze on your face.

  • A surprise laugh.

  • Stepping into a warm shower and savoring the heat.

Just moments. Little moments. You can ground yourself with tiny little times, all throughout the day.

It doesn’t need to be a grand gesture because that’s not what yin is about!

It’s more about being present in the small moments.
